EPISODE 36

Kike suddenly started sobbing loudly “Maami, are you going to leave me too? Help me beg him”

Kike’s mother turned to me slowly “Femi, is there anything we can do concerning this matter”

I looked at both mother and daughter as I pretended to think about it, Kike had always thought I was weak and stupid so I didn’t feel any remorse about what I was about to do.

“Yes, I will allow all these to pass on one condition,” I said slowly.

Kike sprang up and knelt beside me hurriedly “I will do whatever you want me to do, I regret everything that happened”

“Femi, I have always known you to be a reasonable person. She will agree to whatever condition you gave her” My mother-in-law said pleadingly.

“I will let this go if Kike promises to forgive me too. Whatever happens between both of us, she will always forgive like I am about to do now”

“Is that all?” Kike asked looking surprised.

“Yes,” I said calmly.

“Femi, you know I can’t stay angry with you for long, this is a mistake, from now on we will always forgive each other” Kike said quickly.

Mama Kike looked at me suspiciously for some moment “Femi, is there something we should know?”

“No ma'am, If there is anything you should know I will let you know ma. We will consider this matter settled and I will take Kike back”

Kike’s mother stayed with us till later in the day admonishing both of us, Kike was very sober and repentant as she listened to her admonition. I told them I had to quickly resolve some matter at the office but I left for Mama’s place instead.

I was in her shop that evening and we discussed my wedding with Cynthia at length.

“You are stupid to take her back Femi, you should have sent her out when you had the chance,” Mama said angrily.

“If I send her out she will make trouble for us Mama, I have to find a way to keep her quiet until after my wedding with Cynthia. You don’t have to worry about anything after that, she will leave on her own”

“Ehn? You are wise like your father? That witch thought she is smart” Mama said laughing.

“That is the plan Mama,” I said smiling.

“How do we make sure she doesn’t hear about the wedding? She is a witch you know; maybe she already knew and waiting for an opportunity to kill both of us”

“If she knew she wouldn’t keep quiet about it, I know Kike. Cynthia will make sure Loveth does not come to Nigeria to attend the wedding, if her friend did not come she won’t attend too”

“What about the money I will use to order for Aso Ebi? I also need to pay caterers that will cook for us that day”

“Mama! I suggest we allow Cynthia’s family to do all necessary preparation at Calabar in order not to make too much noise here. And please take care of that your nosy friend Iya Bimpe, I don’t want her telling Kike anything” I said frowning.

“Don’t worry about Iya Bimpe, I already cursed her and she will die soon. I will need about 2 million too Femi”

“Mama! Do you want to kill me? I will send whatever I have to your account”

I left Mama’s place around 8:00 PM in the night, I was about to enter the car when my phone rang.

“Hello”

“Hello dear,” Kike said cheerfully

“How are you doing? Has Mummy left?”

“Yes dear, I saw her off and branched at the market to buy soup ingredients. I have prepared a delicious soup of Efo Riro with Amala…”

“You should have called me before going through all that trouble preparing food for me, three tankers are coming to deliver fuel tonight and I must be on ground to receive them,” I said quickly.

“You can always eat anytime you get home,” she said calmly.

“No, I won’t be coming home tonight. I will have to quickly change at the apartment the company gave me tomorrow morning, expect me tomorrow”

“Femi, you have not slept out before; was it because of what happened?” Kike said sadly.

“I have told you not to mention what happened again, it is now a thing of the past. We have to move forward and work towards building our home now” I replied.

“OK, see you tomorrow then. Take care dear,” she said and hung up.

“Witch! She wants to poison me” I murmured as I entered the car.

I quickly dialed Cynthia’s number as soon as I got in.

“Hello Babe”

“Honey” she replied.

“Cook something nice, I am coming home”
