I HAVE DRUNK STRANGE WATERS - EPISODE 50

 EPISODE 50

I was overcome by a kind of rage I couldn't explain "Kike you should have killed me, you should have made sure I was dead. If you don't join my mother in heaven today call me a bastard" I shouted beating my chest in agony.

That day turned out to be the darkest day of my life, I stood up from the ground and moved the dead bodies into the bus with the help of some of the women. The remaining women were grateful to be alive and showed sympathy for Mama's death.

The driver was unconscious and bleeding heavily, I removed my shirt and used it to wrap his head because most of the blood was coming from there.

I went back to my car and notice that I reek of feces, the odor was strong and it stinks. I removed my trousers and boxer and used it to wipe my body before throwing them into the bush, I then proceeded to change into a short knicker and polo in my box.

I knew the driver could not drive the bus back to Lagos in his present condition and I can't leave my car in the middle of nowhere. I decided to reach out to Cynthia, I know I can rely on her at such a time as this.

I kept dialing her line but it was unreachable, I ransacked my brain to remember if I know any of her friend's numbers and came up with nothing. I discovered that I didn't know much about her friends.

I had only one option left and that was Oga Alo, I knew I owed him my life, whatever I did when I stepped out of the car saved my life. I dialed his line and he picked up the first ring.

"Hello, Oga Alo," I said soberly.

"My friend, I go take this to mean you cheated death," he said good-naturedly.

"God bless you, Oga Alo, thank you for coming to my rescue"

"Don't mention my friend, you must have offended someone powerful, your enemy no get forgiving spirit"

"My mother and two other women that came with me died in the encounter with the assassins" I felt that rage again in my spirit and managed to calm down.

"Sorry my friend, God go console you"

"I need your help, Oga Alo, the driver that drove the bus Mama came with is unconscious, I need someone to drive them back to Lagos"

"One of my boys fit do that, he go cost you Sha"

"How much?"

"You be my person nah! You fit pay 300k"

"It's OK, ask your boy to meet us at the intersection outside Calabar," I said and dropped the call.

We waited for another two hours before the boy arrived. When he got to where the bus was he tied a red cloth and some branches on the bus before driving off. I stayed close behind him as I planned my next line of action. I placed a call to some of our relatives and informed them of Mama's death. All of them were shocked to hear the news because she was hale and hearty it was a piece of difficult news to believe.

I arranged with her brother to meet me immediately after I land in Lagos so that he can deposit her body at the mortuary. Immediately I finished the calls it occurred to me for the first time that Mama is truly gone.

"I'll never be able to speak to my mother again, who will call me Femi Femo and stay by my side when I need an ally?" I allowed the tears hovering at the corners of my eyes to fall. I hit my knuckles on the steering wheel several times as I poured out my grief.

"I'm coming for you Kike, you better get ready" I vowed repeatedly.

It was late into the evening when we got to Lagos, I called two of my friends and we arranged to meet at Iyana-Ipaja. I arranged for the driver to be taken to a private hospital in Ojota.

Mama's brother and two of her relatives came to collect Mama's corpse and I headed home to face Kike around 7:00 PM.

She was sitting outside the house laughing and joking with Mama Chidi our co-tenant when I got home. The fact that she could laugh and joke around after killing my mother infuriated me the more.

"My own Obim is back o!" she shouted and sprang to her feet.

I thought I knew Kike all my life but I was wrong, she is a cold-hearted and remorseless murderer. When she got to where I was I pushed her away forcefully and watched as she fell to the ground in shock.

"You cold-hearted witch!!!" I screamed.

"Femi! What came over you? Why did you push..."

I didn't allow her to finish, I pulled her up and turned her left hand backward with full force, I heard the sound of a bone dislocating as she screamed but I wasn't satisfied.

"Yeeeeeh! Femi will kill me o! Somebody help!" She screamed.

I dragged her with her dislocated arm from our compound straight to our room, she kept yelling in pain and pleading but I ignored her.

"Obim come out o! Oga Femi will kill his wife!" I heard Mama Chidi shouting from outside.

I dragged her into the sitting room and didn't even bother shutting the door.

"Femi, What have I done to deserve this?" She said holding her dislocated arm in pain.

"You want to pretend you didn't know what you did? I know your true color now so you can rest. You didn't know I'll come back alive." I was drunk with rage and I didn't even bother to check myself.

"What are you talking about?" She said looking puzzled.

"You want me to spell it out? You want to pretend?" I grabbed her dislocated arm and watched as she yelled in pain.

"Femi, please! Femi, please! Femi!!!" She screamed.

I heard footsteps and quickly moved to the door to lock it.

"It is you and me today Kike! I'll kill you and burn your body I swear!" She must have seen the murderous rage in my eyes, I saw real fear in her face for the first time.

"Femi, please! I'm sorry, please forgive..."

"I won't forgive you Kike! I'll kill you the way you killed my mother!" I screamed like a maniac.

"I didn't kill her I swear! I don't know what you are talking about!" She cried.

I raised my hand and struck her on her cheek, I watched as she twisted her leg and fell. She screamed loud enough to wake the whole neighborhood.

"Mr. Femi open this door!!!" Baba Chidi shouted from outside, he was banging on the door repeatedly.

"You should have killed me instead! I was the one that wronged you not my mother!" I shouted and moved towards her menacingly.

She looked at me fearfully and attempted to dash to the door but I quickly blocked her exit by removing the keys.

"Femi, don't allow the devil use you. Whatever happened is not my fault, I..."

"What did I do that nobody has done before? Am I the first person to have a second wife? Am I the first person to impregnat..."

"You did what? What did you just say?" A wild look suddenly appeared on her face and she was moving toward me instead of running away.

"I said I impregnated and married another woman. Yesterday was our wedding, you decided to kill all of us because of your stupid..."

"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!" She let out a loud and wild scream. Her eyes almost popped out of her socket and her look was scary.

"I'll kill you today!!!" She screamed and advanced towards me.

She charged toward me and I flung her away forcefully. It was more of a defensive move, the fact that I was in a rage must have given me a kind of animal strength.

I watched as she staggered and hit her head on the wall, I quickly dashed towards her and caught her in time before her body could hit the ground.

"Are they inside?" I heard two more voices from outside.

"Please help us break the door before this man will kill his poor wife," Baba Chidi said pleadingly.

Kike's body was laying in my arms limp and lifeless, I laid her on the floor and discovered my hands were wet.

I stared at the blood in my hands and became afraid for the first time, I turned Kike Over and saw that blood was sipping out from the back of her head. All the rage I was feeling subsided immediately and I began to panic.

"Kike! Kike! Kike please open your eyes!" I pleaded.
