EPISODE 14
I whistled in the dark when Oluchi showed me the videotape of Ben being slain by his abductors.
They ate boiled yam with his blood
Oluchi was laughing uncontrollably because she knew that all hope was lost.
She would now inherit properties together with Chief Olewe.
Madam Iron and Ifeoma had continued with their businesses while Chief Olewe was still in Ben's house.
He had opted to marry Oluchi whence Ben had joined the choir invisible.
They plotted it all out.
Oluchi had whined that Ben wasn't useful to her anymore. She said that Ben was not good in bed and that her sexual urge was not being satisfied.
My heart was shattered in deep misery and the world completely went blank before my eyes.
Oluchi's phone rang as she was showing me the videotape.
She picked up the call and found out that her younger brother who had just completed his exams was calling.
He told Oluchi that he would be coming back the next day. And Oluchi was grinning like a Cheshire cat because this was the first time his brother accepted to visit her humble abode.
The next day, Richard, Oluchi's younger brother left his hostel at exactly 6:00 am.
He boarded a bus that will take him to Onitsha where his sister was living.
They were singing melodiously on the bus and instantly the bus drifted in the wrong direction and was pulverized by a truck.
The bus was crushed and the people inside it all died.
Richard was confirmed to have been gasping for air but he died as soon as he was laid on the hospital bed.
Oluchi heard the news immediately and rushed to the hospital.
She was crying bitterly with her hands shaking while she was driving.
On the spur of the moment, she went to the hospital and it was crowded with people.
"Where is my brother, Richard?" She howled.
The doctor beckoned her to come and with his countenance filled with grief, he announced the sad news to her.
Oluchi sprawled out on the floor crying her eyes out.
Richard was their only son and losing him in the hands of the Grim Reaper was doleful.
Forthwith, Richard came out and saw people shedding tears uncontrollably.
People were rooted to the spot when they saw him.
The Doctor couldn't believe his eyes.
Oluchi hugged him tightly.
Richard was confused "what happened," he asked Oluchi
"You had a fatal motor accident" She replied, "I'm glad you resurrected".
Richard sighed in grief as they entered the car and went home.
When they got home, Oluchi and Chief Olewe invited their friends and they celebrated.
I could hear their noises from the darkroom where I was laying.
I started hearing some sounds close to the door and the door opened.
Lo and behold, I saw a silhouette of a male figure.
I was panic-stricken. He was standing close to the door and then he said in a scary voice.
"My name is Ben and I am here to avenge my death".
