I HAVE DRUNK STRANGE WATERS - Episode 16

 EPISODE 16

I didn’t know what to say as I walked away after giving him a brief nod. I knew he was falsely accused but it cannot change the fact that he is going to receive a sack letter the following day. “How will the poor man take care of his family? It is not even up to two months since he started work” I thought sadly as I walked back to my office.

A few minutes later someone burst into my office without knocking.

“Excuse me,” I said lifting my head and it turned out to be Cynthia.

“Well, we need to talk,” she said looking sassy.

“You can’t just walk into my office anyhow Miss Cynthia” I said looking angry.

“And if I do what will happen? You will fire me?”

“Don’t mess with me Cynthia, I am busy and I don’t want to see anyone now” I said angrily.

“Well, I want to see you”                   

“I have nothing to say to you, now get out before I call in the security to throw you out!”

“I never knew you have such a fiery temper,” she said smiling strangely.

“You won’t want to find out how fiery it can be,” I said sarcastically

“Let’s stop exchanging words like kids, there is a more important matter to discuss”

“Such as”

“I missed my period,” she said starring at me.

“What do I have to do with you missing your period Miss Cynthia? Go and look for your missed period and leave me in peace”

“You have plenty to do with it Femi, it means I am pregnant”

“What!” I shouted looking shocked.

She sat on the chair facing mine and stared at me angrily. “You used me and got me pregnant Femi, and you want to throw me away like thrash”

“Who is responsible?” I said a few minutes later when I recovered from the shock.

“I am 3 weeks late, I am sure you can do the math”

“How am I responsible for your pregnancy Cynthia?” I said still looking stunned.

“Because you slept with me, that’s how people get pregnant you know; it's not as if you are a kid”

I stood up from the chair angrily when I recovered from the shock.

“Get out of my office!” I shouted.

 “I am going nowhere Femi, it is either you take responsibility for this child or give me money to abort it” she said stubbornly.

“This is your trade, right? This is what you do; you are a professional at scamming people. Isn’t it suspicious that you suddenly become pregnant after I slept with you?” I said mockingly

She stood up from the chair slowly, dipped her hands into her pocket, and brought out a small piece of paper from her pocket.

“This is the pregnancy test result,” She said as she put the paper in my palm “When you calm down enough to talk let me know,” she said and walked out of my office.

I opened the paper slowly and my eyes become blurred as I stared at the paper “My God! She is truly pregnant”

The phone rang immediately and I walked back hurriedly to my table to answer it, I checked the caller and it was Kike.

“Hello Kike”

“Femi, you have to come home now, something terrible happened”
