I HAVE DRUNK STRANGE WATERS - Episode 21

 EPISODE 21

“Where is this prophet from?”

“I don’t know; I have never met him before. God just sent him to deliver a message to us”

I felt and tasted real fear for the first time since I was born, the message from the prophet is too real to be a coincidence “Did Kike really bewitch me? Is Cynthia my God-ordained wife? What do I do with the pregnancy?” all these and many more questions ran through my heart in quick succession.

“Mama I am doomed!” I shouted suddenly.

“God forbid! I reject it in Jesus name, it is your enemies that will be doomed”

“Mama you can’t understand,” I said as I stood up and started pacing the shop.

“Calm down and tell me what happened Femi. I am your mother, I will not open my eyes and watch bad things happen to you”

I sat down again and stared at her with fears dancing in my eyes “I mistakenly impregnated a lady…”

“Ehn! Lord is good, He has done me well, oh my soul rise up and praise the Lord” Mama sang and danced joyously.

“Mama! Don’t you understand what is going on? I am doomed! Kike must not hear this” I said, I was so moved to tears that my voice was shaking.

“So she had bewitched you this much? You are the only one under the influence of her charms. Anyone that says I should not carry my own grandchild will run mad and walk into the market” Mama said angrily.

“I can’t do this to Kike, not after all she has done for me. We have to abort this pregnancy Mama; I will be an ingrate if I break Kike’s trust” I said looking perplexed.

“That’s a big lie Femi! It is over my dead body that you will abort this child! You have to kill me first before I allow you to harm my grandchild. If Kike thinks she is that powerful I will abandon the church and finish her with my two hands” Mama said and stood up angrily.

“I already made a covenant with her” I blurted out.

“What! This boy has killed me” Mama shouted and sat down again “How can you do such a thing? How can you Femi?” she said almost in tears.

“I told her I will never betray her Mama, I told her she can kill me if I ever marry another wife” tears dropped from my eyes slowly.

“Did you swear with anything? Did you cut yourself or use any devilish object?” Mama asked anxiously.

“No, but are my words not as effective?”

“Mtchew! If that is the case you have nothing to fear, your father said the same thing to me and that didn’t stop him from taking another wife. Leave Kike to me, I will handle her”

“She will be very bitter if she hears this Mama, she may want to harm me,” I said in fear.

“Nigba ti ko ya were! When she is not mad, she cannot touch my son. Leave Kike and I alone, don’t tell her anything, I will handle it. If she is not pleased with the new development she is free to pack her load and leave the house” Mama said angrily.

“Mama, don’t you think this will have repercussions? After all, Kike has done to make me successful, I shouldn’t turn my back on her” I said slowly.

“What has she done that nobody has done before? I also suffered with your father, didn’t I? Moreover, I was told that every male child in your father’s lineage had two wives. Kike will have to accept her fate” Mama said reassuringly,

“What do I do Mama? I feel lost”

“You don’t have to do anything Femi, just go back home as if nothing happened. I have an idea, there is a way to handle everything and she won’t know a thing” Mama said with a smile.

“Are you sure Mama?” I asked looking surprised.

“Just leave everything to me. Be nicer to her from now on and I will also try to draw her closer. I have a plan I need to work on, she will never find out you have a second wife.
