BUILDING CAPACITY
Understanding what it takes to be used by God
Our Scripture verses are: Matthew 4:1-7; Jeremiah 18:1-9
"It takes God absolutely nothing to use a man, but it calls for everything for a man to be used, mightily by God."
God needs no qualification nor experience to use any man, but his availability.
Availability puts a slave in line for nobility.
And, non-availability can make a heir to a throne a slave. All it calls for is the submission and the willingness to drop something and to take up a role, as called by God.
What is Capacity?
Capacity has different meanings based on different context, but in this context, it means "the maximum amount or number that can be contained or accommodated."
And, what is 'Building'?
This refers to the art of assembling materials into a structure.
We should know this, many might keep asking God why He has not spoken to them lately, or why has He not been using them like before.
The real question shouldn't be why has God not been doing this...
It should be: "When did I actually stopped growing"?
Praise the Lord!
Jeremiah 18: 1-4 says:
The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.
God will never be interested in a vessel that refused to grow.
Neither can a vessel that refused to grow holds fresh anointing and power from God.
As believers, and as ministers in the making, we should know that "there are new updates from God's throne for each dimension of offices we hold time to time. And, the moment your storage is filled with flesh, or refused to expand, it won't be downloaded. Thereby, leaving such a minister to fight a new battle with an old or outdated anointing.
Jeremiah 18: 5-10 gives us the indepth knowledge into what God's intentions are for sending Jeremiah into the house of a Potter.
It says:
"Then the Lord gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand. If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed, but then that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned. And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would."
In building our capacities, now, I mean in all areas, it makes rooms for the grace of God over your life and mine, to multiply the effect of that single outpouring.
"Imagine a heavy rain downpour, very heavy, but the only vessel you have to fetch this heavy downpour is a bucket. What a waste. Whereas, someone uses a large storage tank or tanks to fetch the same heavy rain. What a blessing!"
Can we imagine that?
It is the vessel you made available before an outpouring that determines your blessing - it tells of how long the water will serve you. The same goes for God's anointing.
Preparation precedes outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
As large as the capacity built, the more the volume of God's power, and the span of such power.
TYPES OF CAPACITY NEEDED AS A BELIEVER
1. Spiritual Capacity
2. Mental Capacity
3. Emotional Capacity
4. Bodily/Physical Capacity (Health)
5. Financial Capacity
But, truthfully, it is sad how many believers these days have intentionally tried to maneuver the building of these capacities to only spiritual capacity. Many believe their faith in God and the exercise of their spiritual gifts will cover the other areas of their life. That's a lie.
The part of your life you refuse to build or expand now will become an excuse for your failure as a believer, or as a minister.
How do I know this??
II Kings 4:1 says:
"One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.”
This particular son of the prophet probably overlooked certain parts of his life, and concentrated solely on being called "a prophet in the making", forgetting that a generation after him will pay for his negligence in servitude if he refuse to expand his capacities while alive.
We might not be able to conclude this topic but, I am sure the Spirit of God has downloaded a whole lot of lessons to learn for us which we should take time to sit back and learn - as individuals and as a body.
But one thing is very important for us to note and carved into our hearts:
"MEDIOCRITY is one powerful agent that makes solid building up looks tough, thereby avoiding it to enter into an average life."
Building capacity is done by an agent that is against or designed to be an antagonist. A soldier's courage, strength and skills are not achieved by fighting his own comrades, but a tagged "enemy or enemies". It is after his known records of victories that he is tagged a warrior. No wonder God left the duty of testing Jesus Christ, building Him to an arch enemy - Satan.
Matthew 4:1-2
Devil is highly interested and ready to partner with any one who sees God's trainings as being rigorous and time-consuming. All shortcuts always end up having the longest end.
It is our prayer that we all succumb to God's teachings and trainings to emerge a true Soldier for His Kingdom. We are endued with the grace and power, in Jesus' name.
God bless us all.
Praise the Lord!
