EPISODE 20
I grabbed the sniper in Oluchi's right hand and gulped it down hesitatingly.
The world wasn't a better place so I had to end it - I had to pay the debt of nature with my own hands.
I groaned throatily when the poisonous substance started working on my body.
Instantly, I fell to the earth with my two hands on my stomach.
"Ah! Ah!" I kept blubbering.
My fall made the ground shake which scared the daylights out of Oluchi.
She ran out immediately.
Shortly, I started drooling and wiggling. My stomach was aching abysmally.
Unfortunately, I drew my last breath. And the scene changed into a greased lightning.
Lo and behold, I saw myself at the uppermost part of a tall building.
Beneath was a deep hole.
Forthwith, I looked back, and behold, I saw numerous people approaching me wrathfully.
I sighted their countenances from afar and truly, they were cheesed off.
I was like a cat on hot bricks. Any move backward will be a fall inside the deep opening.
I held my breath as they approached closer.
"Don't be scared, my daughter?" A melodious voice said.
I stopped shivering when I heard that voice, it sounded like a voice I have heard before.
I looked up and saw the lady who had been appearing to me - that was her voice; so melodious.
She said that she was my mother. That she will show me how she suffered and died.
"My daughter, follow me for I will show you how I died" her voice echoed.
Then, we went into a small hut and she showed me the video clip on a mirror of how she died which I had narrated.
"Madam Iron is your grandmother, she sold you off to Mr. and Mrs. Ojukwu" She verbalized" That's why Ojukwu always call you a bastard when you were with him.
I was down in the dumps watching the video clip.
My grandma was indeed heartless. She sold me off and later made me a sex slave.
"My daughter, certainly, you shall go back to the mortal world" my biological mother roared "It's not yet your time".
"Ben will kill me again if I return," I said as though I was scared stiff.
"He won't do such a thing" She replied, "He was sent on a mission by the prince of darkness, beneath this building is his destination".
"You also have the bracelet" she added, " that's your protector".
Fearfulness won't elude me as my heart was thumping.
"Who is the prince of darkness?" I questioned her.
"He is a deceiver, a beast who is the architect of all bad things happening on earth - the deep hole is his humble abode" She returned.
"And why is Ben in the deep hole," I asked her again.
"Ben was an occultist" she responded " Chief Olewe's wife had so many miscarriages before death, he was the one killing them in her womb"
"Chief Olewe's only son was imbecilic, Ben made him an imbecile and killed him afterward" she added.
I was stunned to hear this story.
"Ben who was so caring was also a ritualist" I soliloquize.
"Madam Iron, my mother have been murdered by Ben just a few minutes ago" she uttered, " you have to go now".
My mother's voice echoed and the scene changed again.
I sneezed repeatedly and stood up from where I was lying in the darkroom.
Ben who feigned to be Richard came in instantly and told me that I was the last in his list that the case of Madam Iron had been settled.
I laughed heartily knowing fully well that my magical bracelet will send him to his slumber.
